This quilt commemorates the first sixteen years of "Race for the Cure" events
in Decatur, Illinois; recognizes loved ones lost to breast cancer; and
celebrates survivors of the disease. Sixteen T-shirts - dating from 1992 - are
arrayed on a background of hot pink fabric embossed with the word "Love" and
surrounded, in part, with fanciful black and white dolka dots. A bright and
cheerful floral border in a retro print completes the quilt.
Judy's class "Not Your Ordinary T-Shirt Quilt" teaches techniques for working with
T-shirts in quilts and includes ideas for this and other settings for T-shirt
blocks.
Machine pieced by Judy Johnson and machine quilted by Catherine Conkey.
